Before the Storm
Poem by Alter Brody
Like a petulant child
The wind railed in the tree tops,
Tearing aimlessly through the foliage
Pulling plaintively at the twigs,
Shaking the branches,
Fretfully.
Like mothers,
Fondly-indulgent,
The old trees bent their heads
Chidingly, soothingly.
