John and Stephen and the Lobby
John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt the Israel Lobby “exposers” do not give interviews. they made an exception with Der Standard in Vienna. Here are some quotes from their interview of Nov. 13th.
Mearsheimer: We say that the Israel lobby and Israel have much influence on the U.S. concerning Middle Eastern politics. The lobby alone could not have triggered the Iraq war. The neo-conservatives, a nucleus of the lobby, wanted this as far back as 1998…. At first they couldn’t convince President Bush or Vice-President Cheney. The Israel lobby does not always succeed. It needed September 11th to change Bush and Cheney’s thinking.
Walt: Without the Israel lobby there would been no Iraq war. Bush and Cheney do not belong to the lobby but they would not have come upon this idea alone….Most of the supporters of the war were connected to one of the institutions of the lobby.
Mearsheimer: We emphatically reject the “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” and all forms of anti-Semitism.
Here we have it! The lobby got us into Iraq. Those Jews have done it again!
The the neocons may have tried to bend George’s ear, but junior listens to another voice. “There is a higher father that I appeal to.” (1)
They’re right! Here’s George again: “God told me to strike at al Qaeda and I struck them,
and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did.” (2)
And who is the Divine One? The name Jehovah sounds mighty Jewish to me.
It’s always their fault.
Question: Why do Arab factions fight each other?
Tony Judt provides the answer. “They fight each other because they have no chance against Israel.” (3)
