Consoling Art Dealers and Consumers

The intoxication created by the blood and the ripping apart of raw flesh should be satisfying and enjoyable as it relieves man of his suppressed desires….Killing was, and is, beyond all moral judgments.  If possible I would prefer to work with human beings, with dead human beings, with corpses to be specific.  I could well envision that murder could be a component of a work of art; the artist’s accountability would have a another status….Thus, art can consist of a crime.

Blasphemy, obscenity, charlatanism, sadistic excesses, orgies, the aesthetics of the cesspool are our moral means.  Everything is worthy of presentation….That includes rape and murder.  Coitus, torture and the annihilation of man and beast is the only drama worth viewing…..Murder is an integral part of sex. House pets have to serve as surrogates. I intend to commit the perfect murder on a goat that will serve as a substitute for a woman.  In my next films humans will be slaughtered. Slaughtering humans must not continue to be a monopoly of the state. It will soon become an ethical necessity to rob banks and to shoot a random cripple down.

Art dealers and consumers fear that if violence in the arts should include the most violent act, their commodities would be devaluated. Let me assuage their fears! If an artist had committed the most extreme crime as an integral part of his art, his prices would not drop - they would fly sky high.

To prove the point, after one of Austria’s foremost artists was convicted of rape, the sexual abuse of minors and forcing women to undergo abortions,   the prices of his paintings continued their upward swing.

Kunsthändler müssen sich nicht fürchten

Die Berauschung durch Blut und das Auseinanderreißen von rohem Fleisch soll befriedigend sein …. Das Töten war und ist außerhalb des ethischen Urteils.  Wenn es möglich wäre, würde ich durchaus lieber mit Menschen arbeiten, mit toten Menschen, nämlich mit Leichen.  Ich konnte mir vorstellen, daß ein Mord Bestandteil eines Kunstwerks ist, daß aber jetzt eine andere Verantwortungsebene an den Mörder herantritt … Also: Kunst kann auch ein Verbrechen sein, sagen wir so.

Die Blasphemie, die Obszönität, die Scharlatanerie, der sadistische Exzeß, die Orgie, die Senkgruben-Ästhetik sind unsere moralischen Mittel.   Darstellungswürdig ist alles, was einfällt … Auch der Lustmord ist drin.  Koitus, Folterungen, Vernichtung von Menschen und Tieren sind das einzige sehenswerte Theater … Zur Sexualität gehört natürlich auch das Morden. Haustiere dienen ihm als Notbehelf. Demnächst will er im LSD-Rausch einen perfekten Lustmord verüben, mit einer Ziege, die ich als Frau anerkenne.  In meinen nächsten Filmen werden Menschen geschlachtet werden. Das Schlachten von Menschen darf nicht Staatsmonopol bleiben. Es wird bald zur sittlichen Pflicht gehören, Banken zu knacken und irgendeinen Krüppel niederzuschießen.

Kunsthändler und Käufer sollen sich nicht fürchten. Wenn ein Kunsthersteller die extremste Tat als Kunstwerk begehen würde, würden die Preise seine Produkte nicht sinken, sondern himmelwärts fliegen.

Es ist eine Tatsche, daß, nachdem einer von Österreichs bekanntesten Künstlern wegen sexuellen Mißbrauchs Minderjähriger, Vergewaltigung, erzwungener Abtreibung und Kindesmißhandlung  verurteilt wurde, seine Bilder im Wert weiter gestiegen sind.
